With much of the country facing drought conditions, from the moderate levels here in Northern Illinois through the extreme drought covering much of the state of Colorado, I’ve seen a rising number of parks and communities reporting that they will be cancelling the fireworks displays for their Fourth of July celebrations.
Even communities that launch their shows over water are concerned about the combined effects of drought and fire, and with good reason, as each day seems to bring new images of communities devastated by wildfire.
What are your plans for the Fourth? Still planning to launch some fireworks? Picnics in the park? Bands and parades? 5ks and more?
